The Importance of Psychological Support for Patients Beginning Rehabilitation
On March 22, 2023, at 10:00 am, a meeting aimed at exploring the emotions of the visually impaired is being held at the headquarters of the Order of Psychologists of Lazio, in Via del Conservatorio 91 in Rome.
The National Centre of Service and Research for the Prevention of Blindness and Vision Rehabilitation at the Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli-IRCCS, Rome, is participating in the event to illustrate its work, as a centre of excellence for vision rehabilitation.
Degenerative eye diseases can cause great emotional difficulties, since patients are faced with intensely negative feelings, such as impotence and loneliness. Psychological support during rehabilitation is absolutely essential for the wellbeing of blind and visually impaired people.
The meeting, which is organized by the Osservatorio Di Psicologia in cronicità [Observatory of Psychology in chronic conditions] – an initiative of the Order of Psychologists of Lazio – will be an opportunity to share the experiences of some of the largest rehabilitation centres in the field of low vision with health professionals.
